Review Quotes: Overall, I enjoyed reading this book. The author makes it feel as if it is possible for any motivated adult (or teen) to create a well-written children's book. She uses the skills that she recommends to readers by stating something and then simplifying it by giving clear examples and reiterating it in simple, easy-to-understand language. This allows adults who may not understand the technical terms to truly understand the concept and how it may look in their writing. This may truly allow the most experienced of writers to tell their stories. She truly expresses her statement that every story deserves to be heard. The book accomplished the three established goals: 1.) What am I building? 2) Who is going to use it? 3) How should I build it? Additionally, the author expanded on each aspect in a way that, regardless of the adult's or literary experience, they could understand the various elements of writing a children's book. Reading the book felt like having a conversation with a new acquaintance. Often, I would read something and think of a question or comment. Then, in the next few sentences, the author would address my thoughts. The summary of exercises at the end of the book is a phenomenal resource for writers to practice the information and techniques they've learned and also stay organized in their goals for their own book. Dana When reading this book, I can clearly see that your audience is geared towards absolutely anyone who wishes to learn to write a children's book. To dive deeper, it would appear the subgroup in that statement is that of parents or caregivers, as the author's comical approach in each chapter is something parents are able to relate to. I am not a parent, but after reading this book and laughing at some of the comical sentences, I feel perfectly adept in my knowledge of writing a children's book. Overall, I can see the passion the author has for this category of writing on every page and in every word you use in this book. I would like to check out other authors' books that were mentioned in this read.
