Biographical Note:
Regine Galanti, PhD, is a licensed psychologist who focuses on treating children and teens with anxiety. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and has expertise in obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, parenting, and behavior problems. She applies short-term, evidence-based strategies to help young people change their thoughts and behaviors. Specifically, she uses exposure and related behavioral therapy techniques to help those living with anxiety face their fears so they can live happier, healthier lives. She is the founder of Long Island Behavioral Psychology in Long Island, New York, where she brings warmth, sensitivity, and a tailored problem-solving approach to her practice.

Vicky Lommatzsch is a Belgian children's illustrator. At the age of 5, she watched her older brother draw Jolly Jumper. Fascinated by seeing a character come to life on paper, she realised there was a magical world other than the one we live in, one where anything is possible. She has been drawing and playing in that parallel universe ever since.

Commendation Quotes:
When Harley Has Anxiety does what all great therapists selecting cognitive behavioral strategies aim to do for youth with anxiety: make the strategies fun, engaging, and clear, so that children can enjoy using them! With lively metaphors and activities throughout, Dr. Regine Galanti has crafted an essential resource to help children with their anxiety. Harley the Hedgehog and her coping strategies for anxiety will be loved by parents and children working toward "doing hard things" together in their efforts to overcome avoidance behaviors and reduce distress. --Jill Ehrenreich-May, PhD, professor and director, Child and Adolescent Mood and Anxiety Treatment Program, University of Miami

When Harley Has Anxiety is a superb asset for parents and children. Engaging and clearly written, it is a science-backed book for families to read together and work on separately. Harley, a hedgehog, whose spines stand up when she's anxious, learns to talk back to "Mr. Meany Quills." Along the way, she identifies what triggers her anxiety, shakes off her "Ants" (unhelpful thoughts), and works through helpful and fun activities to relieve her worries and fears! --Mary K. Alvord, PhD, psychologist; co-author of Resilience Builder Program for Children and Adolescents and Conquer Negative Thinking for Teens

Dr. Galanti has done a beautiful job creating this engaging, fun, hands-on activity book that incorporates evidence-based CBT treatment strategies for anxious kids and their loved ones. This book is full of practical tools to help parents, kids, teachers, and even therapists become better equipped to understand and provide effective help for children struggling with worries and fears. As a specialist in the treatment of anxiety, I highly recommend this book as a resource for educating, engaging, and motivating kids to develop essential skills they will use for life! --Allison Solomon, PsyD, licensed clinical psychologist; director of The Virtual Center for Anxiety and OCD
