Review Quotes:

"What To Do When You Get Dumped is an emotional, wise, and genuinely comforting read for anyone whose heart is broken, has been broken, or will ever be broken. Hopkins and Bateman manage to find the glimmers of humor in heart ache, as well as the joy and transformation that await us on the other side of healing. A book that feels like a warm hug from your best friend." --Emily Henry, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Funny Story and Beach Read

"This book is the best friend we all need in deep, sudden, disorienting grief, reminding us we are not alone, that we won't feel like this forever-all while making us laugh. Full of wonderful art and writing, What to Do When You Get Dumped is the friend who cries with you, laughs with you, and simply sits there, holding your hand, until you come out the other side. Whole again." -- Wendy MacNaughton

"Abandoned. Betrayed. Unceremoniously dumped. After a short time or a life time. With insight, humor and compassion, here is a sparkly survival manual for living a good and even much better life." -- Maira Kalman

"Funny, poignant, and helpful . . . A great gift for your friend who is having a rough go of it after a breakup, and a great reminder that happiness and hope are out there." -- Amazon Books Editorial Director Sarah Gelman, a CBS Mornings "Unconventional Valentine's Day Books for Couples and Singles" pick

"The mother-daughter team's illustrated guide to post-divorce healing came about when Hopkins's husband-Bateman's father-reconnected with an old girlfriend and ended their 30-year marriage. It's ordered chronologically with sweetly practical tips (start a journal; find a new favorite song; celebrate the day when the groove on your ring finger disappears) for raging, grieving, and moving on." -- Emma Alpern, Vulture

"Offers an intimate look into the complex emotions of losing someone who once played a pivotal role in your life . . . Through a chronological countdown over the time it took Hopkins to recover, the pair created a heartfelt guide that blends practical advice with humor, helping those on a healing journey to recognize they are worthy of love." -- CNN Health

"[A] heartfelt and witty mash-up of advice and memoir . . . Hopkins's simple, vulnerable, and sometimes sarcastic instructions are accompanied by Bateman's lightly humorous drawings . . . For any reader reeling from a split, this is a tender embrace from someone who's been there." -- Publishers Weekly

"Heartfelt and practical . . . Hopkins nimbly treads the line between personal and universal, sharing profound self-realizations alongside solid advice while Bateman's light, joyful illustrations often incorporate all kinds of (former) couples. Part graphic memoir, part self-help guide, their book will make any 'dumpee' feel less alone." -- Booklist

"Vulnerably heart-wrenching, yet infused with laugh-out-loud humor, mother and daughter create a rallying guide to learning to be okay . . . A heartfelt, encouraging, surprisingly humorous guide to recovering from the overwhelming break-up of a long relationship." -- Shelf Awareness

"A funny, brilliant and practical guide for folks going through a divorce and for friends of people going through a divorce . . . Hopkins and Bateman do a wonderful job of inviting us into a long dark teatime of the soul with good humor and grace . . . I recommend this for anyone that wouldn't mind a little laughter in the face of grief." -- Graphic Medicine

"It's charming, empathetic, and funny at times, but in a 'We've all been there' way that makes you feel less alone . . . What Hopkins and Bateman hoped to achieve with the book - and have - is to turn something personal and painful into a universal work that speaks to everyone." -- Santa Fe New Mexican

"Wise, funny and poignant." -- The Isolation Journals
