Biographical Note:

Part publisher, producer, and event promoter, Stacy Buchanan is a one-man hype machine, with a preacher's passion to bridge not hearts to God, but wine to heavy metal music. His biannual cult heavy metal and wine publication, Blood of Gods, launched in Spring 2020, is his testimony--his Annual Merrymaking, a festival of art, music, and wine in downtown Walla Walla, Washington, the revival tent.

By any measure, he's succeeding! He has a gift for uniting people and ideas across backgrounds and industries, attracting awards, accolades, and pilgrims along the way. While in Walla Walla for the inaugural Merrymaking, multi-James Beard Award Winner Paul Grieco, of famed NYC wine bar Terroir, proclaimed, "This is the crowd and demographic the wine industry is jonesing for."

Other buzz includes an induction to Wine Enthusiast's "Future 40" and Imbibe magazine's "Imbibe 75" lists, the latter dubbing Buchanan a person who "will inspire the way we all drink in the year to come," among notable nods from Decibel, Somm Journal, SIP, and more. With recent panel appearances at New Zealand's 'Super Wild' and Seattle's 'Taste Washington', it's clear that the mission continues, and the show goes on.

Review Quotes:

"I've read a lot of books about Metal over the years but this is one of the most unique Metal-crossover books I've ever had the pleasure of reading." " Its in-depth exploration of the two world's is extremely informative, interesting and presented beautifully" JP for Metal Rules.

"Blood of Gods is a handmade, lovingly chaotic wine zine that dares to mix the world of heavy music with serious wine devotion. It's part essay collection, part underground comic, part backstage pass to the lives of musicians-turned-winemakers and the wine lovers who still know how to make a little noise." Joe Campbell, Wine Bulletin.

Publisher Marketing:

Decant the darkness. Hail the grape.

"Blood of Gods lifted that veil and showed that wine--even really good wine--needn't be taken quite so seriously and has united artists, winemakers and musicians."

--Wine Enthusiast Magazine

Blood of Gods is a thunderous tribute to the unlikely harmony between two seemingly distant worlds: heavy metal and wine. This lavishly illustrated collection brings together original essays, interviews, artwork, and wine recommendations from a lineup of iconoclasts, vintners, and metalheads who thrive on passion, rebellion, and ritual.

Featuring bold full-color art from luminaries like Josh Bayer, Ed Luce, and Dan Zettwoch, alongside deep-dive contributions from celebrated sommeliers, writers, and winemakers--including Paul Grieco, Marie Cheslik, Ronnie Sanders, and Justin Moore. Insights from metal legends like Dani Filth, Satyr, Maynard James Keenan, and Greg Anderson (Sunn O))) elevate this tome into sacred territory.

Whether you swirl your Syrah to Sabbath or sip your Riesling to Raunchy, Blood of Gods dismantles gatekeeping and elitism with wit, guts, and glorious devotion. This is a zine-born testament to those who drink with intention and scream with soul.

Blood of Gods, the brainchild of Stacy Buchanan, started in 2020 as a biannual print magazine, celebrating the shared obsession, passion, and creativity found in both heavy metal and wine. Come, meet us here where the wine meets the riff.
